Iran, Malaysia to hold 6th joint committee meeting 2006/11/21
The sixth meeting of Iran-Malaysia Joint Economic Committee will be held in Tehran on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by Malaysia's Foreign Ministry, the two sides will exchange views on cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, fishing, communications, press, sports, technology and sciences, oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors. The two countries' officials will also hold talks on exchange of information, customs, higher education, women's and family affairs, anti-drug campaign, religion, immigration, consular affairs, health, judiciary, mining, industry, energy and defense cooperation. Malaysian Foreign Minister Hamid Al-Bar will preside over the session, and his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki will head the Iran's delegation to the meeting. According to the statement, holding such sessions between the two countries since 1989 has proved effective in bolstering bilateral ties. The joint commission will provide a proper opportunity for both sides to hold talks on issues of mutual interests. The two countries will also confer on decisions made in the fifth joint commission session in Kuala Lumpur from September 8-9.
